Sungjin Lee, Violist
Violist Sungjin Lee, of South Korea, is an avid chamber musician and soloist, having collaborated with artists including Gidon Kremer, Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff, Nobuko Imai, Itzhak Perlman, Pamela Frank and many others. She got the special prize of 2013 Lionel Tertis and started building her career as a soloist, receiving First Prize of Just Viola Festival, Kuminilbo &Hansei University competition and grand prize winner of Hyo competition.
Ms. Lee has appeared as a soloist with the Baden-baden Philharmonic, Korean Symphony Orchestra and Academie Ensemble, among others. She had recitals around the world including Abbaye de Saint Maurice in St Murice Switzerland, Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Field Concert Hall in Philadelphia and Paul Hall in New York.
An enthusiastic collaborator, Ms.Lee regularly appears with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Sejong Soloist, Jupiter Chamber Music Players and Noree Soloist. As a chamber musician, she received 1st prize of Seoul Youth Chamber competition, and 2nd prize of Ruth Widder String Quartet compeitition. She was invited and participated many festivals such as Caramoor Evnin Rising Star, Verbier Academy, Perlman Music Program, Music @ Menlo, Kronberg Academy Chamber Music Connects the World and many others.
Graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School under renowned pedagogues Michael Tree, violist in Guarneri quartet, Heidi Castleman, Hsin yun-Huang and Roberto Diaz, president of Curtis Institute of Music, and she recently graduated in Manhattan School of music as an Artist Diploma student in the Studio of Samuel Rhodes, formal violist from Juilliard quartet.
